As a genral fitness enthusiast I prefer long runs on tar or concrete. Would you consider Yoga stretches (like Surya namaskar) a good warm up before a run?
Yoga poses that involve holding a stretch for long periods of time (static stretching) has been found to impair performance. I will contextualise this in an upcoming post as it is not as black and white as that. Simply put, you can't warm-up a muscle by stretching it. You're better off starting the run at a low intensity and then picking up the pace as you go along.
